On Friday afternoon, two shoes were found by passers-by on the banks of a pond at the edge of the forest on Houtweg in Emmen. The discovery immediately aroused suspicion, whereupon the police were called in.
After an initial investigation at the scene, the police decided to ask the fire brigade for help. Due to the potential seriousness of the situation, the fire brigade deployed an innovative tool: a water drone. This technology is used to scrutinise the water for clues and traces.
The police hope that the owner of the shoes will come forward soon so that further investigations are unnecessary.
