A car ended up in the water this evening along the Kanaal Westzijde in Tiendeveen. No occupants were found in or near the vehicle by the emergency services, a police spokesperson said.
The fire brigade then conducted a search on the water using a sonar boat. “Divers also searched for people, but they did not find anyone either,” according to the police spokesperson. The police are contacting the owner of the car in order to determine how the vehicle ended up in the water.
Earlier in the evening, another car ended up in a ditch in Nieuw-Amsterdam, where slippery conditions caused by snow appear to have been the cause. No one was injured in that incident.
